Backstory: Raised in the port district of the seaside town of Arsmeril in Varisia, Lorelei Syrena was born with remarkable magical abilities, but like her father and his mother before him, she repressed her talents in favor of more mundane pursuits. A few years ago, Daddy handed her the keys to the pub and left her to run things while he served on the council of elders. Along with her Gnomish friend Myrtle, Lorelei runs a pretty successful operation that caters primarily to the sailors who pass through. A few months back, she met and promptly fell in love with Iacobus, one of the deckhands aboard the Arcadia, a sailing vessel that came to Arsmeril every three weeks like clockwork. One week, he failed to show up. One of the other sailors informed here there was someone else. A halfling in Andoran. She was a real looker. Apparently she'd offered him a deal he couldn't refuse. To save her love and reputation, Lorelei had set out with a team of adventurers and gotten as far as Absalom before losing faith and going back home. A barrage of rumors greeted her upon her return home, and she almost immediately picked her things back up and headed back to Absalom to have a second go at things.
