Pech
No race travels quite as much as the pech. They come garbed in gaudy, colorful clothes and beads, living in equally-colorful carts drawn by massive reptiles. The pech's affinity for reptiles is in their blood, and it is a trait they can be proud of - to command these massive creatures brings them closer to their forgotten roots. The oral traditions of the pech are famed, as is their mystic powers. Dealers in exotic lore and items, the pech call upon a wealth and legacy that many have forgotten, and will continue to do so for a long time after every other race is gone.
Origin:
Before the pech, two races warred on the continent: a race of lizardmen, and a race of snakemen. It took hundreds of years for this war to die down, and diplomatic talks resulted in the two races finding common ground, allying themselves with each other. In time, these two races interbred, creating the pech. Confused and horrified at the creatures, the lizardmen and snakemen banished each pech that was born. The pech banded together to form caravans, while the reptilian empire vanished from memory.
Relations:
Pech only really interact with other races for as long as it takes to do business. They have a favorable attitude towards the drakes - feeling some manner of kinship towards them that both races understand. They also find plenty of opportunities among the orcs - orcs and half-orcs have often served as guides to the pech, and their desire for salt, pepper, and sugar makes trading with them quite simple.
Physical Description:
Pech rise to a humble height of 3 feet. They prefer to walk barefoot, leading the bottoms of their feet to become roughly calloused. Patches of colorful scales adorn the top of their feet and often other parts of their bodies.
Their skin tends toward a rich cinnamon color and their hair toward light shades of brown. A pech's ears are pointed, but proportionately not much larger than those of a human.
Pech prefer simple and modest clothing. Though willing and able to dress up if the situation demands it, their racial urge to remain quietly in the background makes them rather conservative dressers in most situations. Pech entertainers, on the other hand, make their livings by drawing attention, and tend to go overboard with gaudy and flashy costumes.
