Drakes
The rage of a dragon is legendary - and thankfully, rare. Their spawn, however, are famed for their tantrums. Regardless of their actual age, drakes act like children or young adults. They're clever, smart, manipulative and unfortunately very powerful. Famed for a natural magic passed down to them from their massive progenitors, the drakes consider life a massive game - and hate to lose. Even relationships with each other take on a super-emotional and chaotic aspect, like infatuated youths in school hunting after drama.
Origin:
It's very clear that drakes are descended from the mighty dragon race. The drakes claim that they inherited the world from them, after the dragons decided to leave to another plane of existence altogether. The reasons why the dragons chose to magically stunt the growth of their children and leave the world is unknown, but it is widely accepted that at least one true dragon of every color stayed behind to observe, or were left behind in slumber.
Relations:
Drakes have poor relations with nearly every race but the pech. Few races have forgiven the great dragon race for their rampages while they were here, and the drake's own powerful tantrums aren't well-appreciated. The drakes with a slightly elder attitude are seen as jokes to many of the other races - though never to their face. Drakes immediately dislike foxfolk - who they believe have taken the dragon's role as an innately magical race. They also dislike the adriel for their lack of respect to dragons and their kin. Pech are among the only race that drake actually enjoy being around, thanks to their equally small size and respect for scaled creatures.
Descriptions:
Drakes appear to be cat-sized dragons. They are quadrupedal, and covered in very small scales which come in a variety of colors. Drakes are rarely a single uniform color, and the colorful patterns of a drake's scales are either a point of pride or depression for a drake. Atop their heads are crests or horns, just like the dragons they are descended from. Their tails are long and supple, and often have a frill or tuft of fur on the end. Those who have neither a tuft or frill wear some decoration on their tail to simulate that. While drakes have wings, they have been useless for anything more than gliding for many years - if a drake wants to fly, they seek a magical way to replicate it.
Drake Racial Traits:
- Ability Score Racial Traits: Drakes are the size of cats and somewhat fragile, but are quick and have forceful personalities. They have -8 Strength, +2 Dexterity, -2 Constitution, +4 Charisma.
- Type: Dragon.
